UWL have set the UWL Aspire Bursary with John Smith's - to help you make the very best of your time at the University by improving access to the learning tools you need to support your studies.
Get your UWL Aspire bursary worth up to £300* (up to £100 of Books plus up to £200 of Aspire Funds)
If you are a full-time or part-time home/EU undergraduate student starting a programme in 2020-21 paying the £9,250 fee you should be eligible for the Aspire Bursary.
Students studying through partnership arrangements are not eligible for the bursary, with the exception of students studying the BA Professional Acting course at Drama Studio London.
In your first year of study, you will receive a Book Bundle exceeding £100 per Full-time Student and exceeding £50 per Part-time Student.
In the rest of your course, you will receive two x £100 payment per Full-time Student and two x £50 payment per Part-time Student on your UWL Aspire card. The money will normally be added to your cards in these years:
For 3 year undergraduate courses - 2nd and 3rd year
For 4 year undergraduate course with foundation - 3rd and 4th year
For 4 year undergraduate courses with placement - 2nd and 4th year
For 4 year Part-time undergraduate courses - 3rd and 4th year
For 5 year Part-time undergraduate courses - 3rd and 5th year
Q. Who is eligible for Book Bundles?
If you are a full-time or part-time home/EU undergraduate student starting a programme in 2020-21 paying the £9,250 fee you should be eligible for the Aspire Bursary The bundle will be valued at more than £100 per full time student and more than £50 per part time student. The book bundle will have the core books needed for the course studied that year.
Q. Where do I collect my free book bundle from?
The majority of books are eBooks and will be provided to you when you complete enrolment. If you have printed books to collect you will collect them during induction week.
Q. When and how do I get my Aspire funds?
Aspire funds are automatically credited when students enrol at level 5 and again at level 6. You will receive an email letting you know when you have received the funds and you can use them on this website to order anything that you might need to support your studies.
Use your funds to buy books, stationery and more online.
Q. How do I register for the Bursary?
If you are entitled to the Bursary you will automatically receive an email with your login and password details. This will be sent to your University email address.
Q. How much money do I get and when do I get it?

Eligible students will receive their funds once they have completed registration with the University of West London. The funds are linked to your student email address, so you will receive an email with the details of how to log in to that address.
Q. Is this a loan? Do I have to pay it back?
Your UWL Aspire Bursary is not a loan and you do not have to pay it back. The funds are provided for you by your university to help with the extra costs associated with studying. It does not add to your student debt.
Q. Where can I spend my funds?
You can spend your funds online here. From time to time John Smith's may operate a temporary bookstall at the various campuses where you can purchase textbooks and learning materials using your Aspire funds..
Q. What happens if I don't spend my funds?
Unspent funds at the end of each academic year will NOT be rolled over for you to use in your next academic year. Unspent funds will be wiped. You will be notified of when this will happen giving you a months notice providing you have not opted out of John Smith's marketing.

You can spend your funds on books and other learning resources such as tablets and laptops which are available online here.
