- For ease of use it has a top loading drop in bobbin enabling you to easily check when your bobbin thread is running low and also takes the hassle out of bobbin changing. The 17 stitches are easily selected with a single dial. There are several straight stitch needle position options which will enable you to finely tune top stitching, edge stitching and zip insertion. With 4 step buttonhole there is no limitation to the size of buttonholes you can produce, whether tiny ones for children's clothing or larger buttonholes for home furnishing projects.
- Open zigzag stitches are used to overcast seam edges to prevent fraying or can be used for decorative purposes, such as stitching over ribbon to form a decorative braid - great for children's clothes. With the closed zigzag settings you achieve a nice satin stitch which can be used to edge items such as table cloths and napkins or simple decorative lines and curves or scallops.
- Blind hemming is a great tool built-in to modern sewing machines and the LX17 has a choice of two special stitches for either woven fabrics or knits. For heirloom sewing there is a bridging stick for attaching lace or joining two pieces of fabric, plus an elastic attaching stitch which is great for underwear etc. With the use of the darning plate, you can do just that, or drop the feed dogs for free motion embroidery. The easily converted free arm enables you to sew tricky areas such as armholes, cuffs and trouser legs.
